easyGroup Expands Into Crypto With easyBitcoin App Offering Rewards and FDIC Insurance
easyGroup, best known for easyJet and easyHotel, has launched easyBitcoin.app, a retail-focused crypto platform built with Uphold. The app aims to simplify bitcoin investing for everyday users by offering perks like a 1% welcome bonus on recurring buys, 2% annual rewards for long-term holders, and 4.5% APY on USD balances paid in bitcoin, backed by $2.5M FDIC insurance. The launch comes as bitcoin trades near record highs ($112K+), with a new Uphold survey showing 88% of U.S. respondents trust bitcoin to grow wealth over the next decade. However, nearly half still see trading as overly complex — a gap easyBitcoin seeks to address. Founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou said the initiative is meant to make bitcoin accessible to the general public, lowering costs and barriers to entry. A U.K. version of the app is expected later this year.
