Israel Blocks 187 IRGC-Linked Crypto Wallets Amid Terror Financing Concerns

Israel’s Ministry of Defence has seized 187 crypto wallets holding $1.5 million, alleging links to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The National Bureau for Counter Terror Financing (NBCTF) claims the wallets were used in the “perpetration of a severe terror crime.” The IRGC, designated a terrorist group by the U.S., UK, and Israel, has reportedly moved $1.5 billion in USDT through these addresses. However, blockchain firm Elliptic cautioned that not all wallets may belong directly to the IRGC, as some could be intermediaries. This seizure follows past actions like in June 2025, pro-Israel hackers stole $90 million from Iranian exchange Nobitex allegedly tied to the IRGC, in December 2024, the U.S. Treasury sanctioned wallets holding $332 million linked to funding Houthi groups and just last week, the U.S. Justice Department seized $584,000 in USDT from an Iranian national accused of aiding the IRGC drone program. The core issue remains attribution as Israel has not publicly proven that all 187 wallets are IRGC-controlled, leaving questions about intermediaries and the ultimate use of funds.
